Contributed Rakeback vs. Other Forms of Rakeback

 
A rakeback is one of the ways by which a poker room rewards its patrons for playing at the site. Through this, the room offers players a percentage of the money it takes as part of the rake – the fee it collects from players. The rake is taken from the amount that goes into the pot during a session. Most online poker rooms return 25% of the amount from the rake, with PKR rakeback you get 30%. With the rakeback amount, players can increase their bankroll. This means that the additional amount you get as rakeback can be used for paying for the games you play later.

The size of the rakeback is based on the size of each pot. So, the more you and other players at the table contribute to a pot, the bigger the rakeback will be. There are three types of rakebacks – contributed, shared and dealt.

Contributed Rakeback vs. Shared and Dealt Rakebacks – Percentages

Most online poker rooms calculate the rakeback amount for each player on the basis of how much he has added to the pot. For instance, if 40% of the amount in a pot was contributed by one player, his rakeback will be 40% of the rake. So, players who make a large contribution to the pot are likely to get back bigger sums of money when compared to those who make small contributions.

In shared rakeback, the poker room takes into account the total amount of money that was contributed to a pot during a hand. This sum is then divided equally among all the players who added to the pot. This way, the players who entered the pot get equal portions of the rakeback. This is unlike the contributed rakeback in which players get unequal shares of the rake.

Dealt rakeback percentages are calculated by considering the total number of players in the hand. Unlike contributed poker where only the players who add to the pot are taken into account, in dealt rakeback, all players in that hand are considered. With the latter, a player who contributes the most to the pot will get the same amount as rakeback, as the player who did not add.

Contributed Rakeback vs. Shared and Dealt Rakebacks – Calculations

For contributed rakeback, you can calculate the amount you are likely to get from the site you play at, by taking into account a few factors – the total rake contributed in one hand and the percentage of the pot to which you have added. Divide the total rake by the percentage and you will get the contributed rake amount. This should be divided by the rakeback percentage the site offers. The result will be the rakeback amount you can get on that pot.

To calculate the amount you are eligible for in a shared rakeback, you will have to divide the pot by the number of players who put money into it in that hand. This will give you the percentage of the rake you are likely to get back. Multiply this with the rakeback percentage offered by the site you play at, and you will get the rakeback amount you will be eligible for in that hand.

The steps for calculating the dealt rakeback are very simple when compared to the contributed rakeback. Just divide the total pot amount with the number of players to whom the cards were dealt in that round.
